Yamba Real Wedding – A Local Love Story

Danielle and Adam both grew up in the same small town of Yamba so they knew each other by name but not on a personal level. When Adam had returned from living overseas, he began working as the function chef at the same business where Danielle was employed as an event planner. They worked closely together and always got along really well. There were always sparks between the two but as they were work colleagues they kept their relationship professional. After a few years of working together and becoming good friends, they went out for a drink one night after work. Four weeks later they both quit their jobs and decided to travel Australia together. For six months they camped and explored the East Coast, as their love flourished all the way to Cape Tribulation and back again.

How did he/she propose?
Adam organised a picnic at Spooky Beach, Angourie. He had cheese, biscuits, fruit and some beers all laid out on the headland overlooking the ocean. It was very romantic and unique to us as our 6 month old daughter and our fur baby (dog Ella) were all part of the special afternoon. He had hidden the ring in our daughter’s baby seat and waited for the right moment. He said “Frankie (which is our daughter) your mother is very beautiful and I want to make her the happiest lady in the world for the rest of our lives”. I wasn’t sure if that was “THE” question or not… but when I saw the amazing ring he was holding I said YES!!

Why did you choose Angourie Resort?
We loved that everything is all in the one location and that all of our guests could stay on-site, it was so convenient. We wanted a combination of coastal romance and forest charm.

Describe your day and how you both felt
Our day was incredible and every little detail was perfect. We were able to set up the reception venue in the days leading up to the wedding, which was a real help. I stayed at the resort the night before the wedding with all my bridesmaids. Our hair and make-up was all done onsite which made the morning getting ready so fun and without any stress. The ceremony was very personal which included our daughter walking me down the aisle and both our mothers reciting a special reading. It was set overlooking the pool and we had a live acoustic music with canapes and drinks flowing while all the family photos were being taking. The bridal party then had some amazing photos taken during a sunset shoot just five minutes down the road at Back Beach, Angourie. The staff were fantastic on the night and nothing was ever a problem.

Did you have a theme?
At the start of our planning the only guide line we had was a “romantic” theme. After choosing the colour scheme we decided that the colours we liked, gold, burgundy and peach along with the venue really leant them self to an enchanted forest theme. To keep with a romantic feel we had many candles and vines stretched along the rows of tables with a few vases of forest flowers featuring peach and burgundy flowers.

What was the stand out moment for you?
Every single guest was in awe at a certain part of our ceremony when our 1 ½ year old daughter started doing a dance center stage while we were saying our vows.
