Yamba Real Wedding – Bohemian Dreaming

An intimate, bohemian wedding style was the ultimate reflection of this chilled-out couple from Yamba. With the essence of coastal rustic charm, entwined with rainforest greenery, hanging bouquets and draping florals all sparkling with fairy lights, Tegan & Roy were in awe at the atmosphere created on their wedding day in November 2017.

A Green Point ceremony at Angourie, Yamba NSW, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is a popular choice for couples in Yamba. It was, in fact, Tegan & Roy’s first choice, but the weather was not in their favour on this day. As Angourie Resort is well equipped to deal with this type of situation, a stunning poolside setting became their fateful ceremony location.

Best friends Tegan and Roy were overwhelmed with happiness and butterflies as they exchanged vows. After which, the reception began in the Bangalow Room, Angourie Resort, where Tegan’s ideas and wedding dreams were brought to life.

How did the two of you meet? Please tell us your story

We met when we were out one night and introduced by mutual friends.

How did he/she propose?

We were camping out at Minnie Water and we went for a morning walk on the beach. We got to the end of the beach near the rocks, I was marveling at the scenery and caves, I then turned around and he was down on one knee proposing. He definitely took me by surprise.

Why did you choose Angourie Resort?

I knew straight away as soon as I walked into the Bangalow Room & Bar that it was just what I imagined and wanted. I loved the privacy of the venue and the atmosphere was incredible, I could picture how I wanted the room set up and it match my ideas very well. I loved that family & friends were able to also stay in the accommodation where the reception was held.

Did you have a theme?

Our theme was a rustic boho wedding. We had timber slabs, lanterns and candles, lots of greenery and floral, hanging bouquets and flowing soft colored, wrap-style bridesmaid dresses. I was totally obsessed with it all, it was beautiful.

Describe your day and how you both felt

We feel it was a very chilled-out, calm day considering it was our wedding day. We were both over the moon and very excited but also had a few butterfly’s. The girls and myself spent from 8:30am getting hair and makeup done in our villa, chatting among each other with lots of laughs. The boys had a relaxed morning and started getting ready at about 12 noon.

What was the stand out moment for you?

Walking down the aisle to see my best friend waiting there for me would have been the best part of the day. We had a lot of fun, lots of laughs and happy tears and having all our family and friends there to share the day with us was also amazing, especially the ones that traveled a long way.
